I first came across the Sufis of the Qadiriyya order in Baghdad. In the 1990s, I photographed the leader of the brotherhood, Sheikh Muhammad al-Kasnazani. Thanks to this photograph, I later gained access to ceremonies where these men enter a religious trance through music and dance.
Súfijci
K súfijcům z větve Qadria jsem se dostal poporvé v Bagdádu. V 90. letech jsem vyfotil vůdce bratrstva šejcha Muhammada al-Kasnazáního. Díky tomuto snímku se jsem později dostal na obřady, při kterých se díky hudbě a tanci dostávají tito muži do náboženského transu.
